Lok Sahaita is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karachi Traffic Police, marking the beginning of a citywide Road Safety Awareness Campaign. This collaboration is a significant milestone in our mission to serve communities and address the growing challenges of road safety in Karachi.

Why Road Safety Matters

Karachi is a vibrant city of over 20 million people, where roads are the lifelines of daily life. Yet, increasing traffic density, reckless driving, and lack of awareness have made road safety a critical concern. Each year, countless lives are affected by preventable road accidents.

Lok Sahaita, with its strong commitment to community development, recognizes the urgent need to address this issue. By joining hands with the Karachi Traffic Police, we aim to foster a culture of responsibility, safety, and discipline on the roads.

Campaign Objectives

The Road Safety Awareness Campaign will focus on educating road users about the importance of safe driving practices and compliance with traffic laws. The campaign will specifically highlight:

• Helmet use for motorcyclists to reduce head injuries in accidents.

• Seatbelt compliance for drivers and passengers to ensure safety in vehicles.

• Lane discipline to maintain order on busy roads and highways.

• Respecting red light signals to prevent collisions and traffic jams.

• Discouraging mobile phone usage while driving, a major cause of distractions.

• Promoting responsible driving habits, encouraging citizens to protect their own lives and those of others.

On Ground Awareness Activities

The campaign will launch at key traffic junctions across Karachi, where Lok Sahaita’s dedicated volunteers will collaborate with traffic police officers to directly engage with road users. Activities will include:

Distributing informative flyers highlighting traffic laws and safety tips.

Displaying large awareness banners at prominent roadways and intersections.

One-to-one interaction with drivers and motorcyclists, encouraging them to adopt safer behaviors.

Live demonstrations and awareness talks, reminding the public of the importance of responsible driving.
